A New School for Jok Village

Building a rural school is challenging, particularly during the monsoon season. Jok is a remote village accessed by a new dirt road. Travelling from the ferry, it takes about 40 minutes to reach the village. Our project was to replace the old school in a new position.

We planned to build a 5-room building complete with electricity and toilets.

Our first challenge was to level the land as it sloped by 4 metres from top to bottom. We also cleared the land to the back of the site, removing small trees and bushes. The task was completed in 2 days using Niews tractor.

Due to the heavy rain and the poor road, this was one of our most challenging projects. It was frequently delayed as the delivery of materials was not possible because the road was unfit for large vehicles. The completion of the school, including new toilets, lights and fans, took over 5 months.

We thank our team of builders and Bounniew for completing a very exciting project.
