What We Do

The LEOT School

LEOT operates a free school in Luang Prabang offering English language and computer studies to disadvantaged students. Established in 2012, it provides beginner and elementary classes in the evenings throughout the week, alongside weekend sessions for those unable to attend during weekdays.

Students benefit from specialist courses in hospitality and career development, as well as cultural and social activities that support personal growth. Volunteers contribute through workshops and conversation practice, helping students develop confidence and communication skills.

Each year the school supports over 200 students, with a strong focus on encouraging participation from girls and ethnic minorities. Many graduates progress to further education or employment both within Laos and internationally.

LEOT works with local authorities to improve learning environments by building and renovating school facilities. Early projects focused on small infrastructure and water initiatives, while current programmes centre on construction and major repairs.

To date, LEOT has built 18 schools and renovated many more, with plans to construct additional facilities and continue improving existing ones. Although teaching in rural schools is not permitted, authorities welcome LEOT’s contributions to infrastructure, including classrooms and sanitation facilities.

These projects ensure more children can learn in safe, accessible environments — reinforcing our belief that education should be open to all.
