The LEOT School is situated in Panluang Village, at the edge of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre of Luang Prabang. We are a FREE School with 250 students from disadvantaged families. Our students’ ages range from 16 to 22 years old.

Students attend daily classes at the LEOT School between 4.30 pm and 8 pm and at weekends.

As a grassroots charity, LEOT does not use volunteering agencies. Our volunteers are independent travellers who work at LEOT as part of a holiday. Others make volunteering the main purpose for visiting Laos.

It is possible to come to LEOT and volunteer for a day. Most come for much longer, usually between two weeks and three months. You can give your time on a part-time or full-time basis. We ask that you email us and complete all our paperwork (form below) before you visit. As a formal charity, we have strict child protection policies.

Many of our volunteers are qualified teachers. We do not offer the opportunity to teach classes. We use our teachers’ skills as teacher trainers and mentors. They also participate in our daily structured conversation classes, working on curriculum development or holding student or teacher workshops. We are open to suggestions on how you can help.

We completed our teaching network of twenty-four computers in 2015 and have developed Computer Courses. We are looking for volunteers with IT skills to help us develop our course for future years.. Our teachers’ skills are still developing, and we welcome volunteers to mentor them and act as teaching assistants during lessons.

Do you have web, marketing, social media, fundraising, photographic, carpentry, mechanical or vocational skills? We would like to hear from you all. Our young Lao students are eager for knowledge and welcome the opportunity to meet, speak, and learn English from our volunteers.
